You are conflating hierarchy and taxonomy. They are not the same thing. A taxonomy is a system to categorize. An organisational hierarchy is specifically designed to create a power imbalance. That’s its purpose. It isn’t “just a shape”. Sure you can have power imbalance outside a hierarchy, but you cannot have equal distribution of power within one.

There are some interesting ideas in this article, but rather lost in the overriding inaccuracy with which you set the scene.
